Wak Wak Tree: Whispers of the Wind

by Zhino Yousefi and Golnoush Mirsalari

Inspired by Iranian folklore and the mythical Wak Wak Tree, this interactive installation brings an imagined world of myth and mystery to life through visuals, sound, subtle movement, and lighting. Whispering voices emerge from individual heads growing on the tree, creating a shifting chorus of mysterious sounds. Responding to external wind data, the tree sways and changes colour, while the heads flicker independently with their own whispers. Blending folklore with environmental data, the work explores the meeting of myth, nature, and the unseen.
